Birgunj Customs collects over Rs 36.80 billion in 9 Months

BIRGUNJ, (PARSA) MAY 3: The Birgunj Dry Port Customs Office at Sirsiya has collected a total revenue of Rs 36.83 billion in the first nine months of the current fiscal year, achieving 61.34 percent of its annual target. The Department of Customs had set an annual revenue target of Rs 60.04 billion for the office.
According to Information Officer Yubaraj Bhattarai, revenue collection has been gradually increasing in recent months. The office collected Rs 3.75 billion in mid-July to mid-August, Rs 4.64 billion in mid-August to mid-September, Rs 4.36 billion in mid-September to mid-October, and Rs 3.79 billion in mid-October to mid-November. In the following months, it collected Rs 3.22 billion in mid-November to mid-December, Rs 3.56 billion in mid-December to mid-January, Rs 4.29 billion in mid-January to mid-February, Rs 4.68 billion in mid-February to mid-March, and Rs 4.5 billion in mid-March to mid-April.
Officials attribute the rise in revenue to improved compliance, streamlined customs procedures, and increased trade volume through the dry port.
