Tourist arrivals hit five-year high with over 116,000 visitors in April

KATHMANDU, MAY 4 : Nepal recorded 116,490 foreign tourist arrivals in April 2025, the highest monthly total in the past five years, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The milestone is said to have reflected a strong post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery and growing global interest in Nepal as a travel destination.
The latest figure surpasses the 111,376 arrivals in April 2024 and 98,773 in April 2023, indicating a consistent upward trend. Compared to April 2019, tourist arrivals have surged by an impressive 106.5 per cent.
India remained the leading source market, with 25,933 tourists, followed by the United States (10,053), China (9,037), and the United Kingdom (6,838).
NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi termedthe growth as “encouraging” and a testament to Nepal’s enduring appeal among international travelers. Between January and April 2025, Nepal welcomed a total of 415,048 foreign tourists, with numbers rising steadily since the beginning of the spring travel season in March.
