Air India cancels multiple flights amid ongoing border tensions

KATHMANDU, MAY 13: Air India has cancelled multiple flights scheduled for today as well, citing the ongoing tensions along the India-Pakistan border. Although a ceasefire agreement was reached on May 10 following four days of military skirmishes, the situation remains tense in border areas, prompting the major Indian airlines to take precautionary measures.

Private carriers Air India and IndiGo announced the cancellation of flights operating from several border-region airports on Tuesday. Air India, through its official X (formerly Twitter) account, stated:

"In light of the current developments and with passenger safety as our top priority, we inform you that all flights scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot have been cancelled."

Similarly, IndiGo announced the cancellation of flights from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot for the same day. Both airlines have advised passengers to visit their official websites or contact customer service centers for further updates or assistance regarding changes.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army has reported a suspected drone sighting in the Samba region of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, underlining the continuing sensitivity of the security situation. Passengers have been urged to follow travel advisories and exercise necessary caution.
