Bagmati spends only 38 percent budget in 10 months

KATHMANDU, MAY 18: The Bagmati Province Government has spent only 38.91 percent of its budget in the first ten months of the current fiscal year-2024/25/
According to Indraraj Sanjyal, Information Officer at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Planning, the government spent 35.01 percent of the capital expenditure budget and 46.79 percent of the current expenditure budget during the period from mid-July to mid-May this fiscal.
The provincial government has spent Rs 13.27 billion on capital expenditure and Rs 12.87 billion on current expenditure, totaling Rs 25.1147 billion. Out of the total budget of Rs 64.54 billion allocated for the current fiscal year, capital expenditure remains lower than current expenditure.
Among the provincial bodies, the Office of the Chief Attorney recorded the highest budget utilization at 68.92 percent, while the Ministry of Culture and Tourism recorded the lowest at 16.48 percent.
Similarly, during the review period, the provincial government collected only Rs 3.73877 billion out of the targeted Rs 4.538 billion from internal sources. According to Information Officer Sanjyal, revenue collection has been affected by a decline in real estate transactions and the purchase and sale of new vehicles due to tight liquidity in the economy.
