Nepal Telecom’s net profit drops nearly 49% in third quarter

KATHMANDU, MAY 19: Nepal Telecom has lately published its unaudited financial report for the third quarter of the current fiscal year. During this period, the company’s total operating income stood at Rs. 25.31 billion.
This marks a decline of Rs. 163.7 million (0.64 percent) compared to the same period last fiscal year, when the operating income was Rs. 25.48 billion.
Similarly, the state-run telco's total income for the period amounted to Rs. 28.43 billion, a decrease of Rs. 2.77 billion (8.89 percent) from last year’s Rs. 31.20 billion for the same period.
The company's net profit during the review period was Rs. 2.84 billion—a sharp decline of Rs. 2.69 billion (48.67 percent) compared to the net profit of Rs. 5.54 billion recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
As of the end of the third quarter, the company’s reserve fund stood at Rs. 72.70 billion. The total current assets were valued at Rs. 44.18 billion, while total current liabilities were Rs. 21.62 billion.
