Over 390 reach atop Sagarmatha so far this spring

KATHMANDU, MARCH 21: A total of 395 climbers have successfully ascended the world’s highest peak—Sagarmatha (Mt Everest)—so far this spring season.
According to the Department of Tourism, of the total climbers who reached the 8,848.86-metre-high summit, 135 were mountaineers while 235 were Sherpas from their support teams.
Notably, last Sunday alone saw 135 climbers reach the summit of Sagarmatha.
This spring, the government issued climbing permits to 468 climbers from 47 expedition groups. Of them, 86 were women and 382 were men, the Department confirmed.
Climbers from 57 different countries received permits to attempt the mountain often referred to as the ‘Roof of the World.’
In addition to Sagarmatha, permits were issued to 700 climbers from 80 different groups to scale 26 other peaks across Nepal this climbing season.
