Mechi Customs Office collects nearly Rs 13 billion in revenue

BHADRAPUR (JHAPA), MAY 22: Mechi Customs Office has collected Rs 12.94 billion in revenue during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year 2024/25, achieving 91.51 percent of its revenue target for the period. This amount was generated from the import of goods valued at Rs 38.88 billion.
According to Information Officer Ishwor Kumar Humagain, the office had set a revenue target of Rs 14.14 billion up to May 14, 2025. He stated, “In the corresponding period of fiscal year 2023/24, only 76.85 percent of the target—Rs 15.8 billion—had been achieved. However, this year we have managed to collect 91.51 percent of the target.”
As per the office, revenue collection over the 10-month period included Rs 7.83 billion from the import of petroleum products, Rs 583.3 million from vegetables, Rs 365.3 million from vehicles and spare parts, Rs 241 million from minerals, Rs 202.9 million from lentils, and Rs 193.6 million from coffee.
Additionally, Rs 198.9 million was collected in revenue from the export of goods worth Rs 21.45 billion during the same period.
