Yango partners with TaxiMandu to launch global ride-sharing services in Nepal

KATHMANDU, MAY 22: Nepal’s oldest and most trusted ride-sharing platform, TaxiMandu, has entered into a "landmark" partnership with Yango, a globally recognized international ride-sharing app. With this collaboration, Nepali users can now access the Yango app to book rides conveniently. Operating in over 30 countries, Yango has officially entered the Nepali market as TaxiMandu’s partner.

“This partnership brings international technology and experience directly to Nepali riders and drivers,” said Arjun K.C., Managing Director of TaxiMandu.

 

Rides starting from NPR 40, with only 3% Commission

Launched with a soft rollout on Tuesday (May 20), the Yango app offers bike rides starting at NPR 40 and taxi rides from NPR 180. In the initial phase, bonus schemes have been introduced for both drivers and riders. Notably, Yango has committed to charging no more than a 3% commission for the next three years, a move expected to significantly increase driver earnings.

Connecting Local Drivers Without Owning Vehicles

Yango does not own any vehicles. Instead, it connects local drivers and taxi operators with passengers through its advanced digital platform. According to Yango’s Chief Commercial Officer, Adeniyi Adebayo, the partnership with local entrepreneurs will create economic opportunities and support the development of smart urban mobility infrastructure.

Advanced Features for Transparency and Safety

TaxiMandu’s Managing Director, Arjun K.C., explained that advanced features such as digital accounting, real-time tracking, and fleet management will improve transparency and operational efficiency.

To ensure the safety of both passengers and drivers, the Yango app includes more than 20 built-in safety features. The app also displays an automated fare estimate based on the destination. Currently, only cash payments are accepted, but online payment options will be added soon.
