Ten thousand EVs imported in 10 months
KATHMANDU, MAY 26: Nepal has imported a total of 9,859 units of four-wheeled electric vehicles (EVs)—including cars, jeeps, and vans—in the first ten months of the current fiscal. The total value of these imports reached Rs 2.31 billion.
According to the Department of Customs, among these, nine unassembled EVs were also brought in from China. The majority of electric vehicles imported during the review period—7,353 units—originated from China.
India was the second-largest supplier, exporting 2,411 EVs to Nepal. In addition, EVs were imported from other countries such as Indonesia, South Korea, Germany, Malaysia, and the United States.
From these imports, the government collected Rs 1.425 billion in revenue.
