Over Rs 4 billion allocated to transform TIA into a boutique airport

KATHMANDU, MAY 29: During the national budget speech, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel has announced that Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) will be upgraded to a boutique international airport to better manage the increasing passenger traffic and reflect Nepal’s distinct traditions and cultural identity. This concept was also included in the government’s policy and programme for the fiscal year 2019/20.
Poudel earmarked NPR 4.15 billion to develop TIA as a boutique airport. The budget also includes provisions to carry out necessary steps to remove Nepal from the aviation safety concern list within the upcoming fiscal year.
