BIRGUNJ, JUNE 3: The Birgunj checkpoint has come under close watch following a surge in COVID-19 infections in neighbouring India.
Individuals entering Nepal are being monitored, and brief health check-ups are being conducted for passengers arriving by train.
A meeting of the Parsa District Health Crisis Management Committee, held on May 29, decided to strengthen health screening measures at the border to help prevent the spread of the virus.
Rajesh Man Singh, Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, inspected the health desk established at the border and instructed the concerned authorities to remain on high alert.
“In view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases across the border, we have taken preventive measures and heightened our vigilance. The health desk at the border will be made more effective,” he stated.
