SC order to forward criminal investigation against Agni Sapkota

KATHMANDU, JUNE 5: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order to continue the investigation into the murder case filed against former Speaker Agni Sapkota.
A joint bench comprising Chief Justice Prakash Singh Raut and Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla, Kumar Regmi, Manoj Kumar Sharma, and Kumar Chundal issued the stay order yesterday, allowing the investigation process against Sapkota to move forward.
In 2016, Purnima Lama filed a complaint with the Kavre District Police Office regarding the abduction and murder of her husband, 48-year-old Arjun Lama of Kavre. Former Speaker Sapkota was named as one of the accused in the case.
Purnima later filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court after police refused to register a First Information Report (FIR) in the case, which is related to the period of the armed conflict.
