Indian businessmen call on Prime Minister Dahal
KATHMANDU, JUNE 10: A delegation from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) held a meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ who is on an official visit to India. Prime Minister Dahal and FICCI officials discussed the possibility of investment in Nepal during the meeting held today at Hotel Taj, where the Prime Minister was residing.
On that occasion, Prime Minister Dahal mentioned that Nepal is a suitable country for Indian investors and urged them to invest in tourism, energy, agriculture, and other sectors. He stated that during the third investment conference held in Kathmandu, Nepal had created a favorable environment for investment by comprehensively reforming its legal structures. Prime Minister Prachanda said, “A suitable environment for investment has been created; I urge you to invest with confidence.” He further assured that Nepal is a suitable place for investment from the consumer point of view as well.
Prime Minister Prachanda suggested that it would be appropriate to invest in Nepal’s energy sector, noting that there is a long-term agreement with the Indian government to sell 10,000 megawatts of electricity over ten years.
On that occasion, FICCI President Dr. Anish Shah said that he and his members are interested in investing in Nepal’s energy, tourism, and solar energy sectors, mentioning that they were closely studying the measures taken by Prime Minister Prachanda to encourage investment.
