‘No results have been made on par with investments of donor agencies’
SURKHET, MAY 14: The Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Yamlal Kandel, has stated that the Karnali region has not been able to achieve results on par with the investments made by donor agencies. Despite the prioritization of Karnali by international development partners, the progress of development work has not been significant, he complained. CM Kandel expressed these views during a discussion with international development partners working in the Karnali region yesterday.
He further argued that the anticipated meaningful change in the lives of Karnali’s people with assistance from donor agencies has not been realized. CM Kandel expressed concern over the deserted villages in the region, urging donor agencies and their representatives to pay attention to retaining them.
However, he admitted that the sole efforts of the government are inadequate to improve people’s living standards. Kandel assured that the provincial government would create an atmosphere conducive to development partnerships in Karnali Province.
According to him, once the scattered programs launched by various development partners are integrated and run in a coordinated manner, positive results could be achieved.
