Dr. Bhatta now new Executive Director of NOC
KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 19: The government has decided to appoint Dr. Chandika Prasad Bhatta as the Executive Director of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) for a term of 3 years. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held yesterday made a decision to this effect.
A decade back also, he served as the chief of the state-owned petroleum monopoly during which he is credited for implementing an automatic price mechanism in the petroleum sector successfully.
Following the resignation of the then Managing Director of NOC, Umesh Prasad Thani, a call had been issued to fill the vacancy. As a response, 13 candidates vied for the post among whom three competitors- Chandika Prasad Bhatta, Dolprasad Chapagain, and Shatrudhana Prasad Pudasaini- were shortlisted by the selection committee.
Similarly, the meeting formed a task force under the coordination of secretary at the Home Ministry to submit a revised draft of the work procedure brought in 2074 to determine the status of disability among the people injured during armed conflict. The committee has been asked to submit a report within two months.
The Cabinet also endorsed the National Transmission (12th amendment) Regulation, 2080 and decided to allow the presentation of a bill designed to amend the Bank and Financial Institutions Act, 2073 in the federal parliament
Minister Sharma who is also the government spokesperson informed that Bhupendra Bhandari was appointed Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), while Dr Pramod Joshi is a member of Nepal Health Research Council.
The Cabinet meeting approved the Probation and Parole Policy, 2080, and decided to send the report of the probe committee on the dispute over the NCell share sale to the related agency for implementation.
