President Paudel pardons 482 prisoners

Kathmandu, May 29. President Ram Chandra Paudel has, on the recommendation of the government, pardoned 482 prisoners on the occasion of Republic Day. Issuing a statement today, the Office of the President has said that 482 prisoners were pardoned on the occasion of Republic Day in accordance with Article 276 of the Constitution of Nepal, Section 37 of the Criminal Offenses (Determining and Execution of Punishment) Act, 2074 and Section 12 of the Senior Citizens Act, 2063.
“In accordance with the recommendation of the Council of Ministers dated May 26 and to be effective from May 29, the remaining sentence of 475 persons including Hem Bahadur Thalang called Ramesh Thalang-Limbu and seven including senior citizen Udayanarayan Giri were pardoned on the occasion of Republic Day, 2080,” reads the statement.
