Remittance inflow swells by 30 percent
KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 10: The inflow of remittance has increased by 30 percent in the first three months of the current fiscal, according to the Nepal Rastra Bank. During the review period, a total of Rs 365 billion 240 million was remitted to the country. In US dollar terms, the remittance inflow grew by 25.9 percent to Rs 2 billion 760 million.
The volume of money sent by Nepali migrant workers had gone up by 16.8 percent during the corresponding period last year. In US dollar terms, such an increment amounted to 7.9 percent.
In the first three months of the current fiscal, 113,397 Nepalis took labour permits while 49,297 renewed their work permits. During the same period last fiscal, the number of Nepali people taking labour permits was 147,932 while the same of such people renewing their work permits was 57,861.
