Taxi drivers punished for not following rules

Kathmandu, Dec 8 . The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has taken action against 32 taxi drivers.

They were punished for not using the taxi meter, charging more than the metered amount in different parts of the valley on Friday. A special campaign has been initiated in the valley to regulate taxi service, especially those charging high to the travelers, said chief of the Division Basant Kumar Pant.

Any driver committing an offense for more than five times will have his/her driving license suspended as per the Vehicle and Transport Management Act 2049.

Meanwhile, the Division has also appealed to all to report to the Division’s hotline 103 or call or send an SMS to 98512-95100 for any irregularities by the taxi drivers.
