Transport entrepreneurs including NFNTE General Secretary Sitaula arrested

 

Kathmandu, March 4 . General Secretary of the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs, Punya Prasad (Saroj) Sitaula has been arrested.

A plain clothes police personnel deployed after the Home Minister’s order arrested Sitaula from Bhrikutimandap while he was going to participate in the programme organised by Reporters Club Nepal, said Chief of Metropolitan Police Range, Bishwo Raj Pokharel.

Sitaual has now been kept at Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu. Meanwhile in Jhapa, seven transport entrepreneurs including chairpersons of different transport organisations have been arrested for halting transport service demanding Transport Directives issued by the government on April 11.

Police Inspector at District Traffic Police Office, Jhapa, Rajesh Rai, said that they were arrested at the direction of Home Ministry and have been kept at Area Police Office, Kakadvitta.

In Butwal, police have arrested transport entrepreneurs for halting the transport service. The arrested are Vice-Chairperson of Western Nepal Bus Entrepreneurs Committee, Jeevan Kumar Banjade, and General Secretary, Padma Gaha Magar.

Chief at the District Police Office, Rupandehi, Superintendent of Police Shyamlal Gyawali, said that action would be forwarded against the arrested entrepreneurs as per Essential Services Operation Act, 2014 BS.
