Kathmandu, March 17. Several political parties’ leaders have urged the government to unveil the report submitted to it by the Commission formed under the convenorship of Supreme Court former judge Girish Chandra Lal as soon as possible and address the demand of Rastriya Janata Party ( RJP- Nepal) towards that end.

It may be noted that the erstwhile government led by Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba on September 18, 2016 formed the commission to carry out investigations into the alleged atrocities reported during the Tharuhat and various Madhesh movements.
The RJP-Nepal today impeded the House, insisting that the report should be made public.

Talking to media following the obstruction, lawmakers representing the Nepali Congress and agitating party in the House asserted that the report should be made public as soon as possible to find an atmosphere to let the House go ahead.

RJP-Nepal presidium member Rajendra Mahato expressed his concern over the government’s ‘unwillingness’ to disclose the report. “The move aims to keep the people uninformed about the Madhes movement.”

The commission had on February 12, 2018 submitted the report to the government. As leader Mahato said, all those sacrificed their lives during the movements should be treated equally.

NC leader Balkrishna Khand was of the view that the government was expected to release the report earlier. But it seemed that it wanted to face more obstructions, otherwise, it would be serious towards normalizing the situation.

Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s leader Dev Gurung said the government was thinking seriously regarding the demand. NC lawmaker Min Bishwakarma asserted that the government should seriously response to the voices of Madhesh community who were not happy since the constitution-drafting process.

The RJP-Nepal presidium member Sharat Singh Bhandari said party leader and cadres faced unnecessary charges when the report was yet to be released.

The RJP-Nepal lawmakers obstructed the House session today for the same reason. The meeting has been put off until 2:00 pm Monday through a notice.RSS
