IPPAN to establish itself as a think tank

KATHMANDU, MAY 18: The Independent Power Producers Association Nepal (IPPAN) has decided to establish itself as a think tank. To achieve this, it will conduct policy research and initiate the process to purchase land for its own office building.

IPPAN’s treasurer, Narendra Ballav Pant, informed that the formal decision was made in the 22nd general assembly of IPPAN held yesterday in the capital, two different funds were also established.

“As per the general assembly’s decisions, the funds will organize members, lobby for favorable policies and programs, and conduct research work,” he stated, adding that the funds will have a long-term impact, thereby establishing a national standard in the power production sector.

Among the two funds, the monetary fund is expected to collect Rs 30 million. The money for the fund will be collected from power promoters’ companies, various national and international bodies, and generous individuals. The money will be utilized for academic study and research on the energy sector in Nepal.
