FEBRUARY 12: The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development honoured the Nepal Tea Development Corporation for winning the Gold Award in the 8th Asia Tea Competition 2023 held in China. The Kanyam Tea Garden of the corporation won the award by outperforming 17 tea producers from around the globe. Executive chairperson of the corporation, Subash Chandra Shanghai, received the honour from the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr. Beduram Bhushal, during a program.
The program was held recently during the exhibition of Nepali tea held on the banks of the Narayani River in Chitwan on February 9 and 10. The exhibition was jointly organised by the National Tea and Coffee Development Board and various organizations working in the tea sector.
The prime objectives of the event were to promote tea farming, increase the consumption of tea produced in the country and inform people about the benefits of drinking tea.
