Myanmar Tourism Minister reaches Lumbini
Rupandehi, Jan 2 . Myanmar Tourism Minister Ohn Maung, who arrived here to visit the birthplace of Lord Buddha, said he would encourage his fellow citizens to visit Nepal.
At a programme organized here following his Lumbini visit, Maung further said he would urge the travel agencies in his country to arrange package tour to Lumbini on the occasion of the Visit Nepal Year 2020. “Birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini, is the centre of faith for the people of Myanmar. So, we are eager to visit Lumbini once in life,” he reminded.
In addition to Maung, who came to Nepal to attend the inaugural of Visit Nepal Year 2020 in Kathmandu, high level officials from Cambodia and Bhutan also visited Lumbini.
The Myanmar Minister was welcomed by Minister of Tourism at State 5, Leela Giri. He arrived here by Nepal Army helicopter. Even the officials from Lumbini Development Trust were together with Minister Giri to welcome the foreign Minister.
On the occasion, Minister Giri urged the foreign minister for his cooperation on cultural and religious relations between Myanmar and Lumbini. “Nepal is making headway to prosperity. The Visit Nepal Year 2020 is launched as part of the national ambition of ‘prosperous Nepal- happy Nepali’.
Earlier, the foreign visitors and Minister Giri conducted Buddha puja on the Bodhibrikshya premises.
On the occasion, Minister Maung showed interest on Lumbini development perspective. The Trust officers shared informed to this with the Myanmar Minister.
