Asian conference of goat experts in Rampur
Chitwan, June 29 . Experts in goat farming from the Asia Pacific region are gathering at Rampur for a conference to be held from coming October 20 to 23. The conference is being hosted by the Agriculture and Forest Science University.
The University is collaborating with the International Goat Association, USA and the Ministry of Livestock Development, Nepal Agriculture Research Council, Michigan State University, USA and Central Goat Research Institute of India, among others to hold the conference.
Researchers and experts in goat farming from 14 countries are expected to take part in the event. The conference will see sharing of information, technology, knowledge and research findings from scientists, research agencies, universities as well as government and non-government organisations working in this field, according to Prof Dr Sharada Thapaliya, the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science and Fishery at the University.
According to information shared at a press meet held here on Friday to shed light on the event, the Asian continent is home to 146 species of the 351 species of goats found in the world. In Nepal, goats top the list of livestock, with around 11.6 million in the country.
