Entrepreneur Prabhakar Rana passes away
Kathmandu, May 31. Noted entrepreneur Prabhakar Shumsher JB Rana has passed away at the age of 84 due to cardiac arrest. He died during the treatment in New York, US, said the Hotel Association Nepal, quoting Rana’s family source.
Rana, who was the founding chair of the Hotel Association Nepal, has a son and a daughter. Also the founder of the Soaltee Hotel, Rana was the one to establish the hotel of international chain in Nepal and provide internal quality service.
Rana had tremendous contribution to Nepal’s tourism promotion. He was conferred on various national and international awards. He was the chair of Hotel Association Nepal since 1966 to 1976. He was also the founder of Sipradi Traders, the authorized dealer of Tata Motors.
Saying that Rana’s demise is an irreparable loss to Nepal’s tourism and hotel sector, the Association expressed tribute to the departed soul and extended condolences to the family members.
