Clarification sought from Avenues Television

Kathmandu, May 13 . The Press Council Nepal has sought a clarification from Avenues Television Private Limited over the language and terms used in course of an interview aired in the Television with President of Samajbadi Party Nepal and Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Upendra Yadav.
The clarification was sought after the Council concluded that the interviewer did not consider the journalist code of conduct and decency in course of the interview taken on Sunday night.
The ATV has been given three days to present its clarification over the matter, said Joint Administrative Officer at the Council Dipak Khanal. Meanwhile, issuing a statement, the Samajbadi Party Nepal has directed its cadres not to get agitated over the treatment against its Chair and DPM Yadav.
“Serious attention of the party has been drawn towards the misbehavior by the media person towards Chair Yadav in violation of the journalist code of conduct”, says the statement issued by Deputy General Secretary of the party, Prakash Adhikari.
The party also appealed to media houses, journalists and press council and other bodies to make journalism sector more disciplined by discouraging activities against the ethics of journalism.RSS
