Amazon adjusts business focus in China

BEIJING, April 18. Amazon China said Thursday that it is adjusting its business focus in the Chinese market.
“Over the past few years, we have been evolving our China online retail business to increasingly emphasize cross-border sales, and in return, we’ve seen a very strong response from Chinese customers,” said a statement from Amazon China.
It said as part of this shift, it has notified sellers that it will no longer be providing seller services on Amazon.cn effective July 18.
The company said it is working closely with sellers to ensure a smooth transition and to continue to deliver the best customer experience possible.
Sellers interested in continuing to sell on Amazon outside of China are able to do so through Amazon Global Selling, the company added.
“Amazon’s commitment to China remains strong,” said the company. “We will continue to invest and grow in China across the Amazon Global Store, Global Selling, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Kindle devices and content.” Xinhua
