Number of industries obtaining NS mark increases

Kathmandu, April 7 . The number of manufacturing companies acquiring the Nepal Standard (NS) mark from the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) is increasing.
The government has made the possession of NS logo in 11 sorts of goods mandatory while it is optional in others. Last year, the mark was obtained by around 200 industries for 60 products besides those in the mandatory list, said the Bureau.
If any industry formally approaches the Bureau seeking the NS mark for the product, the quality test of the product is conducted before the decision. If the product meets the criteria, the mark is granted.
The regular (annual) check of quality control and some surprise checks, if needed, will take place after issuing the NS mark. If the violation of ethics is found, the Bureau takes action. The NS mark has been of the standards for sustaining in the competitive market as well.
