11 persons die in jeep accident

Darchula, March 2 . Eleven persons died on the spot in a jeep accident occurred at Ratakatha of Duhu rural municiplity-3 along the Darchula-Tinker road section in the district on Friday night.
Among the dead, seven were women, three men and a girl child.
The jeep (Ma 1 Ja 280) heading to Hikila from the district headquarters Khalanga plunged into the Mahakali River, according to the police.
Jeep driver Dipak Singh Dhami, seriously injured in the incident, has been sent to Pithauragadh, India, for the treatment, said Deputy Superintendent of the Armed Police, Bhim Bahadur Chand. Detailed information about the accident is yet to be received, he added.
The jeep fell some 500 metres down the road before plunging into the river. The accident site lies some seven kilometres south to the district headquarters Khalanga.
