Biratnagar announces public holiday on Tuesday

Biratnagar, Feb 25 . The Biratnagar Metropolitan City has announced a public holiday on Tuesday to mourn the demise of senior linguist and literary figure Prof Balkrishna Pokharel.
The board meeting of the Municipality took the decision to this effect today, said Mayor Bhim Parajuli. With the decision coming into effect, the ward offices, public and private schools in the metropolitan city area will remain closed on Tuesday.
Prof Pokharel has a notable contribution in the fields of Nepal linguistics, literature and grammar. The Khas Jatiko Itihas (History of Khas) is one of the most famous and notable books penned by him.
Linguist Pokharel passed away at the age of 86 on Sunday. He had been suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes since long.
