China-USA-talks-trade

USA, Jan 4  .  In a follow up to US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s meeting in Argentina, China and the US will hold trade talks in Beijing on January 7 and 8, 2019.

The previous meeting of the two leaders on the sidelines of the G20 summit in December 2018, led to a temporary halt in the escalating trade war between US and China, as a truce was agreed upon by both the sides.

“In the early hours of Friday, China and the United States held telephone talks on the level of deputy ministers, during which they confirmed that the US delegation will arrive in China on January 7-8,” Sputnik quoted China’s Ministry of Commerce as saying.

China further stated that the US delegation will be led by Deputy US Trade Representative Jeffrey Gerrish and will also include Under Secretary of Treasury for International Affairs David Malpass.

“The US and Chinese working groups (on trade and economic issues) will hold constructive talks on the implementation of important agreements, reached by the leaders of the two countries during their Argentina meeting,” the ministry further said. (ANI)
