Three hundred taxis face action in a week

Kathmandu, Dec 15 .Traffic Police has intensified action under the special drive of suspending the driving license of those taxi drivers refusing to follow the rules.
In this connection, the Traffic Police has taken action against more than 300 cabbies in a week’s time alone.
According to police, the campaign of revoking the driving license has been launched as per the legal provision of suspending for six months the license of drivers who have been booked continuously for five times.
The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has started the campaign December 6 in coordination with the Department of Transport Management and it has been keeping record of the same.
Division spokesperson and Superintendent Jaya Raj Sapkota said so far more than 300 taxi drivers have faced action under the campaign.
Among them, 189 drivers faced the music for refusing to take passengers to their destination, 98 faced action for bargaining the fare and 20 drivers for tampering with the taxi metre. According to him, 765 taxi drivers have faced action in the month of Mangsir alone. RSS
