Ghyangfedi accident: Death toll reaches 20

Betrawati, Nuwakot, Dec 15 . The death toll in the Nuwakot truck plunge on Friday evening has climbed to 20.

Of the dead, 18 died on the spot, one the way to hospital and one during treatment, according to DSP at the district police office Bhim Lal Bhattarai. Seventeen of the dead are men and three women.

Of the rescued injured passengers, 15 have been sent to Kathmandu for treatment.
The accident took place when a mini-truck (Ba 3 Kha 3913) slid off the road and fell some 500 meters at Ghyangphedi of Dupcheshwor rural municipality-1 in Nuwakot. Over 40 people were on-board the vehicle.

Three of the dead have been identified as Ribhal Tamang, Aite Tamang of Ghyangfedi and Ritesh Pandit of Shikharbesi. Kenam Tamang died on the way to hospital while Sukaram Tamang died during treatment in TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu, Chair of Dupcheswar rural municipality Yobindra Singh Tamang said.
