FNJ condemns attack on journalist
Kathmandu, Nov 16 . Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ has condemned the incident of assault on its general council member and a reporter for Radio Thaha Sanchar, Deviram Devkota, by transport entrepreneur Raju Chand.
Issuing a press release today, FNJ general-secretary Ramesh Bista said the incident of attack on journalists in any pretext was a blow to the press freedom and the federation strongly condemned such anti-press incidents.
The umbrella organization of the journalists has also demanded the concerned agencies enable environment conducive to exercise free and fair journalism practices by bringing the predators of press freedom into legal action.
On November 15, transport entrepreneur Chand had assaulted journalist Devkota at Kohalpur Bus Park while boarding on the bus bound to Kathmandu. The journalist was misbehaved and attacked when he demanded seat allocated as per the ticket. Journo Devkota sustained head and eye injury in the incident.
