Nepal will be a model tourism site within 10 years: Minister Adhikari
Kathmandu, Sept 28. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, has said that Nepal would be developed as the model tourism destination of the world within next 10 years.
Inaugurating the 28th annual general meeting of the Nepal Mountaineering Association here on Thursday, Minister Adhikari said that tourism infrastructure development has been expedited for development of the tourism sector and added that an environment conducive would be created with remarkable tourism infrastructure development.
He also urged to present high quality publicity materials through the digital world as the World Tourism Day is being observed under the theme ‘Tourism and the Digital Transformation’.
The Tourism Minister shared that work related to rehab of the runway of Tribhuvan International Airport was underway, adding that the TIA would be brought into operation for 24 hours after completing the work before 2020.
Similarly, NMA President Santabir Lama drew attention of the Tourism Ministry to make policy-level reform in order to make mountain tourism systematic and effective.
On the occasion, Minister Adhikari honoured different personalities and organisation for their significant contribution to mountain tourism. Meanwhile, a street festival was organised in Thamel today on the occasion of World Tourism Day.
