Local taxes to be studied
Kathmandu, Aug 22 . The Federal government has formed a committee in order to study the various taxes that the local government units are currently collecting.
The committee led by Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration Dinesh Thapaliya includes Revenue Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Shishir Dhungana and Secretary of the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission Dr Baikuntha Aryal.
The committee formed today has been given 15 days to submit its report following a study of the taxes being imposed at the local government level. It will also make recommendations to address the current problem concerning local level taxation, according to acting Secretary of the MoFAGA Suresh Adhikari.
