Finance Minister urges for levying taxes only in line with law

Kathmandu, Aug 18 . Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada has urged the local levels and provincial governments to levy tax only in line with the law and constitution.
Minister Khatiwada underscored that if the double taxation is imposed, citizens would be burdened much. The progressive tax system is the one where well off pay higher taxes, and equal tax is for equal service, he added.
During a regular press meet at the Ministry on Friday, Minister Khatiwada argued that if the local levels did not become accountable to the citizens, grudges are rife.
On the occasion, Revenue Secretary at the Ministry, Sishir Kumar Dhungana, informed that the revenue was increased by 37 percent in the first month of this fiscal compared to the last one.
