Political leadership too needs to abide by financial rule: PM Oli
Kathmandu, July 31 . Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stressed the need for also the political leadership to abide by financial laws and rules.
“Political people should also be serious on their compliance with the financial laws because politics leads the country,” he said while addressing the meeting on auditing of the Office of Auditor General for the fiscal year 2074/75 at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Tuesday.
Stating that arrears increasing at government office are not good sign for good governance, said the PM, “What are the causes behind it? Not clearing the arrears is a corruption. Anyone involved in not clearing arrears should be booked.”
No state’s body will be exempted from corruption and irregularity, he warned. “Nepali people are not known for corruption and fraud. But our bad culture and a culture of high ambition has drawn us toward it. We should have a full-stop to it.”
On the occasion, Auditor General Tanka Mani Sharma informed that Rs 48 billions of arrears of the government offices was found not cleared in the FY 2074/75.
PM’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal and secretaries of various ministries were present on the occasion.
