INGOs to be barred from parliament and courts

Kathmandu, June 6 . Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sher Bahadur Tamang has said that government was working to forge a consensus in the draft of the parliament rules of procedures.

Speaking at a face-to-face programme organized in the capital on Wednesday, he said the government is working to bring the opposition parties on board, though it could have it endorsed based on the two-thirds majority that it enjoys. “We are looking for a consensus to endorse the rules by addressing the concerns of the opposition,” Tamang said.

He also said that discussion was being held to bring the Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) on board the government, while urging the opposition to not be scared of a directly elected executive president, which is currently not a matter of amendment in the constitution.
On a different note, the Law Minister said no international and national non-government organisations will be allowed to run any kind of programmes in the parliament and the courts.

Also speaking at the programme, NC central member Pradip Giri said the fundamental issues of the Constitution should not be amended at the force of a two-thirds majority in the parliament.

RJP leader Manish Suman said the agreement between the government and federal socialist forum was anti-Madhesh, and warned of pulling out both from the province no. 2 government and the support to the central government.
