Minister urges PM, Finance Minister to increase budget in education sectors

 

Kathmandu, April 26. Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel has urged Prime Minister, Finance Minister and leaders of major political parties to increase the budget in the education sector.

Speaking in an interaction on political commitment to reform public education organized by the National Campaign for Education, Minister Pokharel opined for increasing the budget to reform the public sector.

He also opined that about 20 percentage of budget could be increased in education sectors if PM, Finance Minister and Major party leaders were agreed for that.

There is only 10 per cent budget in education sector. He also opined for stopping misuse of children in the name of welcoming and fare welling VIPs.

Similarly, CPN (UML) secretary Yogesh Bhattarai said that the incumbent government was committed to address the issues mentioned by left alliance in their election manifesto. He added that the government and stakeholders should work so as to give result as per investment in education sectors.

Nepali Congress Meen Bahadur Bishwakarma said that the teachers working in temporary status could provide quality education if they were made permanent as per the past agreement made by erstwhile government.

CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Rekha Sharma said that the political parties should contribute to reform the education in public schools and monitor the private schools.

Rastriya Janata Party Nepal leader Brishesh Chandra Lal, Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal leader Umashankar Agrariya also focused on quality education.
