Mayor seeks help of CIAA to arrest account officer

Gaighat, Udayapur, April  25 . The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested an account officer at Katari Municipality in the district, Rabin Chandra Dhakal, on the charge of embezzling Rs 40 million.

According to Municipality Mayor Gyanendra Kumar Shrestha, the CIAA team held account officer Dhakal for embezzling the amount allocated for the social security allowance.

“I learnt that he embezzled such huge amount- Rs 40 million- to be distributed under the social security allowance. So, I informed the CIAA and got him arrested. Now, further investigation will divulge more,” he added.

Account officer Dhakal who was absent in the office for some days, was arrested from Kathmandu on Wednesday. The bank account was emptied on the day he left the office.
