Adele says she quit smoking over fears cigarette habit would kill her

December 20- ADELE has admitted that she quit her 25-a-day cigarette habit as she feared it would kill her.

The singer has been on a noticeable health kick since returning to the spotlight with new album 25. And the devoted mum of todder son Anglelo has now revealed that the thought of dying from a smoking-related illness has forced her to ditch her longtime smoking habit.

She told The Mirror: “If I’d carried on smoking I’d probably have died from a smoking-related illness and I think that’s really bad.

“If I was dying from lung cancer I would have potentially given it to myself and that wouldn’t be something I’d be proud of.’

The 27-year-old — who used to be known for her love of beer and ciggies — underwent risky throat surgery in 2011.

Since then, she has adopted a healthier lifestyle. A new gym routine and a diet low on sugar has seen her shed kilograms and boost her energy levels

In an interview with Rolling Stone,  the former gym-phobic said she now works out regularly. — but in true Adele fashion, she’s keeping it real.

She said: “(It’s) to get in shape for myself, but not to be a size zero or anything like that.”

She added: “I’m not, like, skipping to the gym. I don’t enjoy it. I do like doing weights.

“I don’t like looking in the mirror. Blood vessels burst on my face really easily, so I’m so conscious when I’m lifting weights not to let them burst in my face.”
