Demand for blood now could be placed from computer
Ratnanagar (Chitwan), Feb. 9 – The activities of Nepal Red Cross Society and the Blood Transfusion Centre could now be accessed through the internet.
This facility is available since all the activities are to be uploaded in computer through software with the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre, Chitwan taken as the hub, according to the Centre's Chief Ramesh Poudel.
The hospitals would be able to place orders for blood supply via computer through this technology and the software for this is being designed, it is stated. The software is being developed with the assistance of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Poudel said that an agreement has been signed to that effect among KOICA, the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre, Chitwan and the software developer company BIA.
Software designer Santosh Karna said that the software called BIMS would provide information regarding which area of the country is facing shortage of blood, which area have access blood in their blood banks, the level of demand for blood at hospitals and the number of blood donors.
