Rupee up 17 paise against dollar in early trade

Jan 21, Mumbai -The rupee rose by 17 paise to 61.45 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on increased selling of the American currency by exporters amid sustained foreign capital inflows.
Forex dealers said a higher opening in the domestic equity market also supported the rupee.
The rupee had lost eight paise to close at 61.62 against the dollar in yesterday's trade.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE index Sensex rose by 61.95 points, or 0.29%, to 21,267 in early trade on Tuesday.
