Rupee up 6 paise vs dollar in early trade

Mumbai, Oct 28 – The rupee gained 6 paise to 61.40 against the dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on Monday on increased selling of the US currency by exporters.
Forex dealers said strengthening of the euro against the dollar in overseas market on expectations that the US Federal Reserve will keep its monetary easing policy in place till early next year boosted the sentiment.
A higher opening in the domestic equity market also supported the rupee, they said.
The domestic currency had closed unchanged at 61.46 on Friday amid weakening US currency overseas.
Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex rose by 76.98 points, or 0.37 per cent, to 20,760.50 in early trade on Monday.
