BSE Sensex up 467 points, ends near three-year high

Mumbai, Oct 18 – The BSE Sensex surged 467 points and the Nifty gained 143.5 points on Friday, marking their highest close in nearly three years. The Sensex closed at 20,882.89, up 467.38 points or 2.29 per cent.
Banks rose on value-buying while blue chips gained as foreign investors extended their buying streak to a tenth consecutive session.
A short while ago, led by healthy buying in bank, metal, capital goods, oil and gas and automobile sectors, the sensex has gone up over 500 points in pre-close trading before finally closing 467 points up.
The sensex touched a high of 20,918.98 points and a low of 20,486.78 points in intra-day trade.
