5.1 Ritcher scale quake hits China
Beijing, August 28 – An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted several counties on Wednesday in southwest China's Sichuan province and adjacent Tibetan prefectures.
The quake shook border area of Rongxian county in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province and Deqin and Xianggelila counties in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province at 4:44 am local time today, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The epicenter, with a depth of 9 km, was monitored at 28.2 degrees north latitude and 99.3 degrees east longitude, the state run Xinhua news agency reported.
