Mobile App Accused of insulting female politicians

Melbourne, July 7 – A new mobile phone application has been accused of promoting sexism and misogyny directed towards female politicians.
Courier Mail reports that 'Sandwich Toss' created on the Gold Coast and launched on Apple's app store, gives points for hitting the cartoon face of Julia Gillard, former Prime Minister, with a virtual sandwich.
Melinda Liszewski, from anti-objectification group Collective Shout, said that this sort of treatment of female MPs is unacceptable.
Co-creator Cameron Baker and two friends took six weeks to produce the game. Baker said the app was downloaded more than 1000 times within the first four hours of release.
Baker further added that people might find it offensive as it is a political satire, but it could help prevent students from throwing further sandwiches as they can do it virtually.
