Apple launches cheapest iPod touch

New Dehli, June 3 – US tech titan Apple has today announced a new version of its popular iPod touch. This new device is the cheapest in the portfolio of Apple's music players and misses out on the rear camera and lanyard eyelet. The new iteration of iPod touch comes in 16GB storage version and costs $229.

The new iPod touch features a 4-inch touchscreen with Retina display technology and looks exactly like an iPhone 5. The music player comes bundled with Apple EarPods and features Lightning adapter, which were unveiled last year at the launch of iPhone 5. Though rear camera is missing, the device offers a HD (720p) front camera for video chat. Apple's new iPod touch runs on iOS 6 and packs the company's A5 dual-core processor under the hood. The device offers 8 hours of video playback and 40 hours of audio playback.

The new iPod model will sell alongside the earlier iPod touch variants with the rear camera in the US and will come only in silver colour. The 16GB iPod touch without the camera has not been listed on Apple's India website as of now.
