Bomb kills 10 people in Baghdad
Baghdad, May 30 – A car bomb and several roadside blasts exploded in Shi'ite and Sunni Muslim neighbourhoods across Baghdad on Thursday, killing at least 10 people in the latest in more than a month-long surge in attacks, police and hospital sources said.
No group claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Sunni Muslim Islamist insurgents and al-Qaeda's Iraqi wing have increased their operations since the beginning of the year as part of their campaign to stir sectarian tensions.
More than 1,100 people have been killed since the start of April when the latest wave of attacks erupted — the worst violence since U.S. troops left the country in December 2011 nearly a decade after the invasion. Reuters
